THE ALUMNI RELATIONS office has embarked on an aggressive and innovative program which allows MMSU graduates to ‘give back’ to their Alma Mater in as many ways possible, deviating from the usual practice where alumni are limited to serving as sponsors, usually on financial concerns.

Under the Balik-Alumni program, successful and accomplished alumni may come back and ‘give back’ to MMSU by becoming speakers or trainers in their fields of expertise. They can also share books and instructional materials or serve as conduits to other agencies or institutions. They may, of course, also opt to sponsor scholarship programs, and donate facilities and equipment for instructional purposes.

Alumni Affairs Chief Doreen Domingo says MMSU alumni have \"so much to share\" and that they can become \"active contributors\" in the development and improvement of university programs.
Balik-Alumni was launched Nov. 16 last year with the coming of Herbert L. Caballero, a 1991 BS Biology graduate who currently works as scientific officer at the School of Natural Sciences of the University of Western Sydney, Australia.

Caballero, who holds an MS in Occupational Health and Safety Management, delivered two lecture, gratis. He talked about \"Conducting Effective Risk Assessment\" before an audience composed of university administrators, faculty, and staff. In the afternoon, the San Nicolas native also delivered a lecture on \"Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods\" to biology students at the College of Arts and Sciences Audiovisual Room.

He also specializes in medical microbiology, physiology, and biochemistry.
